皆さんは日々、他人とコミュニケーションを取りながら人生を送っています。

家族、友達、同僚、相方、様々な場面で人と付き合い、そして分かち合おうとします。どのような仕事に就き、どのような人生を歩んでもコミュニケーション能力は必要です。

材木座留学では、アメリカの大学で学ぶ幅広いコミュニケーション学について勉強をし、そのスキルを磨くことを目的としています。

このプログラムはすべて英語で行われますが、英語を教える授業ではありません。英会話と違って、講師は単語や文法の説明などを一切しません。

参加するための英語のレベルは問いませんが、英語の環境に浸かる勇気と英語でのディスカッションにチャレンジする心が必要です。少しでも自分のこと、他人のこと、コミュニケーションの理解を深め、英語で楽しく勉強しましょう！

During this program, you will be able to experience firsthand the style and structure of an American university course through lectures and discussions.

Of all of the courses that I took while at university, Interpersonal Communications was by far the most insightful. I use the skills and insights that I gained from this course every day. During these sessions, I hope you will be able to learn a little more about yourself, about others, and how to understand and communicate in your day to day lives. I look forward to sharing and learning with you.

Session 1: Perceiving Ourselves, Perceiving Others

In this session, we will explore how we understand ourselves and how our self-concept develops. Through studying perception, we will explore the factors that impact the way that we interact with other people.

Session 2: How We Communicate: Verbal and Non Verbal Communication

In this session, we will explore how language works, what it symbolizes, and how meaning is created. We will seek to gain an understanding of the cultural factors that influence how language is used and discuss methods for using language to communicate more effectively. We will also explore the various ways that we communicate without using language, such as gestures, body language, and facial expressions. We will learn skills for communicating non verbally to facilitate better communication..

Session 3: Listening to Communicate and Understand

In this session, we will learn different methods for listening and engaging with others in order to deepen understanding and yours relationships. We will explore various listening methods such as how to use silence, when to reflect and ask questions, and when to give advice.

全３コマを取っていただくことで、幅広いコミュニケーション学を学ぶことができますが、講座の内容は単体として組んでおり、興味あるテーマのセッションだけに参加することも可能です。

◆講師紹介

コール・ギャレット
米国テネシー州出身２０２０年から鎌倉在住。ヴァンダービルト大学にてアジア研究で学士を取得後に来日。参議院、JR東海、産経新聞、電通などを経て、翻訳、政策、外交、コミュニケーション戦略、広報、政府渉外など多岐にわたるコミュニケーションの仕事に携わる。
現在、ゆず兄弟株式会社のディレクターとして文化に根付いたビジネス・コミュニケーション戦略を担当し、同時にアーミテージインターナショナルでアーミテージ元国務副長官のもと、日米関係、政策分析、外交などの仕事を担当。
